Alexandra acted with Toria in the same selfish way as queen Victoria had acted with her youngest daughter Beatrice. She didn´t want her to marry until Beatrice fell in love with prince Henry of Battenberg and defied her mother. The queen didn´t speak to her daughter during several months and only accepted the marriage under the condition that the couple settled in England and lived by her side.
I think it was one of the Ponsonby family who were equerries and private secretaries to the royal family. Both Louise and Victoria suffered from their upbringing. Louise painfully shy and Victoria("Toria" not Vicky - who was Q. Victorias daughter) a bitter old maid. Maud was the only one who escaped at a younger age and became Queen of Norway
She fell in love with a commoner which made it inconceivable that they could marry. All very hushed up of course, The relationship was quietly quashed and she remained a resentful spinster for the rest of her days acting as companion and secretary to her mother Queen Alexandra who was an enchanting and beautiful woman although deaf and extremely selfish.
I don't think 'Toria' was a spiteful person, but she could be sharp and had a wicked black sense of humour. She wanted to marry and have a family like her two sisters but got no support at all in this from her parents, and was obliged to remain single and living with her possessive mother and remote father until their deaths - not an easy life at all. Great tribute though, I really enjoyed it.
Great Video about the Royal, who was not really famous and the many people don't know. you are giving us great information about the Royal Family, scottrazzie. Thanks you very much.
