Fran Crippen 2010 Open Water National Champ

Fran Crippen earned a bronze medal at the 2001 Goodwill Games in Brisbane, Australia. At the '03 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, he won 2 silver medals in the 400 and 1500m free. At the '06 Pan Pacific Championships he earned a silver medal in the 10km open water swim. In '07, he earned a gold medal in the 10K at the Pan American Games in in Rio, Brazil. Fran won a bronze medal in the 10K at the '09 World Championships. Fran is a 7-time US National Champion. He has won two national titles in the 800meter freestyle, two in the 5km open water, and 3 in the 10km open water event.

Were drugs involved in this death? Most likely. Those swimmers use performance enhancing fish oils etc. to gain an unfair advantage! Just look at the coach of Sven Kramer! The dope messed him up so bad that he told Sven to change lanes thus eliminating him!

It is very sad to hear of the loss of Fran Crippen; he was definitely an amazing individual and extraordinary athlete, Our hearts go out to his entire family. In this video, Fran talks about a prior race, and (at about 5:03 minutes into the video) noted that he hadn't been feeling well and vomited while swimming. We're wondering if nausea and vomiting is common in this sport, or if it may have signaled that his body had been over-working itself at that time.
