@CandRreviews sticky bolt? that's the cosmoline in the receiver. gotta get that out.

i just used a rag and wiped it down real good a couple of times until i dont see cosmo along with a few patches down the barrel and its all good.

When my dad bought one in 1942, it wasn't cosmoline but cow fat......
Note... Cow fat sitting for 20-30 years does not smell/look/taste good at all (dont judge me, it was a bet)

ok this might sound like a noob question but I just got my first WW2 gun.. If I keep some of the cosmoline on it will it effect the function of the gun? Why do you need to remove it? I mean aside from just wiping it down is there anything wrong with just cleaning the barrel and mechanical parts?

@RenmarStriff Cosmoline is sticky and doesn't feel too great. As long as you clean out the barrel and firing mechanism/bolt it should fine. Thanks for the comment and watching the video!

Apparently it's caused by cosmoline in the receiver, just behind the chamber. One sight said to run a 20 gauge borebrush in after firing to clear it, but that didn't work for me. The action will cycle normal until fired, then you have to smack to bejesus out of the bolt handle to cycle it lol.

@Jofus73 I can't remember if I answered you or not so here it goes. I noticed that there is a build up of cosmo on the inside of the receiver. get some degreaser and some very LONG que-tips. use a flash light to see into the receiver and make sure you are getting as much as you can out. Spray the degreaser on the area, then on the que-tip as well, then wipe the area with the que-tip. this is what I did and have had zero issues, and a TON of cosmo came out. Hope this helps.- Ryan

@Jofus73 I don't think we have run into that yet. Can you describe it to us?
