Here's the sirens in Vinton (Sans the STH-10) blowing for a tornado warning, as heard from my home approximately four miles away. Although the voice announcement is a jumbled mess at this distance, the air horn and alert tones are still quite sharp and certainly would grab anyone's attention in the usually-quiet rural surroundings where I live.

Recorded on an old tape recorder with mic gain set on high, so there's a lot of background noise and the quality isn't the best. But, the sirens are still quite easily heard here. I only ran the tape recorder for about a minute though, before going inside to safety.

  • Vintons Whelens do Airhorn?

  • @sirenfan97 They do. Here's a video a storm chaser took of the same storm from just south of town. You can clearly hear the air horn and most of the voice announcement in it: watch?v=utcvPZn2qIw (And apparently it says "take shelter" instead of "seek shelter")
