  • LCD is NOT close in quality to OLED. LCD suffers from the need to be back-lit and has poor viewing angles. OLED has self-illuminating pixels so has neither problem.

Without a doubt though, these new Sony TVs are the most gorgeous I've ever seen.

Let's hope Sony's finally figured out how to eradicate back-light blooming. Realistically, I expect an improvement over the 2010 model, but I doubt it'll be totally gone. I think pixel-for-pixel local-dimming would be the only real way to achieve that.

  • Greats stand, why is not available State side?

  • @23GrandMasterK oled is already made by sony in 2008(the 12 or 14'' oled screen costing 4k grand)

  • @23GrandMasterK

I know! And I'm not seeing Panasonic's processing getting any better.

So, at the moment, you can't win.

  • @gorillapancake I'm prettu sure OLED will make it to the market. There's really nothing else on the horizon and LCD panes (with LED backlight or CCFL) are maxing out their potential regardless of the processor.

  • @23GrandMasterK

I know it would never happen. I was just making a point about LED's fatal flaw.

Who knows how long OLED will take to arrive, if ever?

I feel stuck, because I love the qualities of Panasonic plasmas, but Sony has far superior image processing. Neither TV is completely satisfying.

  • @gorillapancake Pixel-for-Pixel local-dimming will never be achieved with LED-LCD. OLED in one form or another will be that solution though. It just may be 3 or 4 years away though, sadly.

  • Looks gorgeous. Lets hope they minimized input lag in the new models.

  • This is a Masterpiece!

  • OLEDs are a bust for larger panels, they dont last as long, and cost too much... OLEDs for a smartphone that you are going to replace in 1-2 years makes sense though

  • @blazeballer11 Scratch that, the screen if definitly an LED screen
