@jacqui4elvis Used to go to the Central too during them years. Originated from Calverley near Leeds but now live in Dewsbury. I think the club is still going in some context. Defo not a gay club ever as far I know. Got loads of pictures taken at the Central in the 70's on my kitchen wall - happy days mate.
Willie & The Mighty Magnificents' version was pretty well known as early as 1975. It was mentioned in the 'Black Music' magazine articles on Frankie Crocker and All Platinum records. Soul Bowl records generally had copies in stock, as they were far easier to come by than the more in-demand Frankie Crocker side on Turbo - which is actually Lonnie Youngblood anyway!
Know the track - Frankie Loveman Crocker "Ton of Dynamite" Has anybody heard the version they play on the funk scene? Its called "Funky 8 corners" Can't remember who its by but it is the original version of the tune.
