Here's part 1 of a complete runthrough of Quake II for the PSX finished 100%.

These are different from my original videos. They're played much better. I even cut 7 mins off of the first two hubs!

Of note, since people asked this. The music is by Sonic Mayhem. The game consists of tracks from the PC version and its expansions. Nope, don't know the track names, sorry.

Of the two ports (the other being N64) this is the surprisingly the superior of the two. Thanks to the programming geniuses at Hammerhead this game is running on a mere 2 megs of memory!

Great graphics, great sound (more music than the PC!), and still very fun. The uber-sensitive analog controls take a while to get used to however...

  • I'm not a console player but, is the N64 not supposed to be more powerful than psx? music and animation looks much better in psx for quakeII it even has a Lens Flare effect in the lights that the PC version didn't have!. The psx graphics are wonderful! great work made ID here!! :D

  • Yes, the N64 is more powerful. But any system can get a crappy port, and any system can get an amazing port. Hammerhead's work on Quake II for the PSX is nothing short of godly.

  • Is it me or do I find the exit of Strogg Outpost to Outer Base @ 1:44 weird because when you circle around outside @ 2:04 - 2:12, it looked kinda architecturally incorrect? :D

  • I never thought of that before. :P

  • I think it's a miracle the PSX was actually able to even handle this game.

  • I love how all of you say how the N64 version was so much more better. Well then, why was half of the levels missing, why dont we have that heavy metal to listen to, why does nintendo always have to have that backwards ass controls, and why does the N64 last boss suck balls? Oh, and the graphics on this game was inferior to the PSXs, so yeah. If anyone can think of anyhting that the N64 did better, then tell me.
