I LOVED THIS SHOW AND NEVER UNDERSTOOD Y THIS SHOW WASNT A BIG HIT IN THE RERUN DEPT. I MEAN IT WAS A GOOD SHOW BUT AFTER IT PLAYED ON CHANNEL 5 IN NYC IN RERUNS U DIDNT C IT NO MORE UNTIL YEARS LATER ON NICK AT NITE

@cmulwee001 I didn't remember that about her southern drawl, seems funny though as none of the other cast members has an accent. I did recall about Linda doing the Filmways presentation sign off. You have a good memory and insight on the show.

@toddcharry Part 2.. which she would do for the rest of her stint. Ever notice that? BTW that's Jeannine's voice you hear in the b/w episodes doing the "This Has Been A Filmways Presentation" sign off beginning with episode 11(the first 10 used a male announcer). Linda Kaye Henning took over the "Filmways" duty when the show switched to color.
I can't decide on Billie Jo myself. Meredith was a FANTASTIC singer, but Jeannine Riley and Gunilla Hutton(Billie Jo #2) were much funnier IMO

Well if you prefer the first Billie Jo, Jeannine Riley(who should not be confused with singer
Jeannie C. Riley) than you may have noticed even some changes in her early on. In the four part(!) pilot episode she is a total airhead, and ditzy dumbe blonde and speaks with a heavy Southern drawl, but when you get to episode 5, the "airhead" aspect of her persona is downplayed, and she is just more of just a flirty type and speaks in her regular voice..

@cmulwee001 Regarding Meredith, her character became kinda dull I thought but she didn't write the lines after all, so that wasn't her fault. I didn't know she was that good of a singer until I watched that one episode with Rich Little. She did do a great job on "when I fall in love".

Haha! i love the girls talking! :) :)

@cmulwee001 i wondered why they left, thanks for telling us about it.
-
@toddcharry ... and contrary to popular belief, neither one of them was fired, they left on their own free will, for pretty much for the same reason. I didn't like the fact that Gunilla Hutton missed about 7 episodes straight, and they NEVER explained where Billie Jo was all that time!
Ms. Hutton, from what I know ,REALLY liked Meredith, don't know if she knew her personally and they were friends, or if she was merely a huge fan. So she was happy for her. Totally different though, from before.

Well, Meredith was a terrific singer, but she wasn't particularly funny, so I can side with you on that respect. And she did completely change the character, from a ditzy boy chasing airhead(or "dumb blonde" [Meredith did NOT play dumb characters[), to a strong independent single woman with a singing career.
Jeannine was great as the first Billie, and Gunilla as the second Billie was funny too, but both left because they talents for comedy were being underused...

@cmulwee001 I preferred the first Billie Jo,I never liked Meredith in anything. Lori was good as Bobbie Jo, but to be fair they changed the character some, making her more of an airhead, rather than a bookworm as in the early episodes. So its possible the first Bobbie Jo might have done well too.
Okay, since @cmulwee001 has thrown out there that she believes Linda Kaye Henning to be the ONLY person to have played Betty Jo Bradley Elliott, I gotta say, YEAH cmulwee. You are 100% correct, and Linda? If you ever just happen to be surfing, and accidently peek in on this particular video, thank you for all of this wonderful stuff. So many gone now, but I do know you and Lori Saunders are still here, Mike Minor as well. We STILL love y'all. & we'll see you at the Junction.
