Simple method for converting to base 2 using only your mind and your fingers. Works any number 1-1023.

Method is simple, if even keep finger down, if odd put finger up, divide by 2, repeat until 1 is reached.

  • welp... my mind is fucked

  • @DeathOfLove15 Wait .. is that a good thing or a bad thing?

  • @godshiva i dont know whats going on o_o

  • @DeathOfLove15 :) I'm sure if you figure out how to do binary, you will understand what I am talking about. Binary Code, or "base 2" is exactly like our number system, except that instead of 10 digits 0-9, you have 2 digits 0-1. So the first digit from the right represents a 1, but the second digit represents a 2 (in regular numbers it would represent a 10), then the next digit is a 4. So in binary it looks like this (8)(4)(2)(1) in base 10 (normal) it would be (1000)(100)(10)(1)

  • "There are 10 kinds of people in the world.... those who know binary and those who don't!"

Using one's fingers is kind of a different approach to converting to binary..... good for some peeps, I guess.... You have a different way of tackling problems that is interesting and no doubt really helpful for lots of folks.

I love yer stuff & could watch U all day. And, thanks to you, I've picked up a good bit of Italian for FREE by checking out Pimsleur from local library. Gratie!

  • @my2livers You love me so much!! Thanks for stopping by!

  • work backwards on the bits. 49 to binary. so you'll have 1 x 2 which is 2 then 2 x 2 which is 4. do this for all 8 bits and get 128.

1 2 4 8 16 32 64 128 swop it to reverse 128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1 now take 49 and see what in the above list of bits you need to calculate together to get 49 use only those as on switches and the rest will be 0. so I can see that I need 32 16 and 1 so the rest becomes 0 and the used bits become 1.

    128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1

    0 0 1 1 0 0 0 1 = 49

  • @sk8erpro10 and then he said get mature and get over it
