I was/still am getting off Heroin from 4 years use, I started using it when I was 16 years old and I am still on methadone 70-80mg/day dosage, but at least I'm not using it anymore and I'm not into that lifestyle (I only used on my own, but large amounts) I didn't stop at once I slowly lost interest in it and finally give it up . I started exercising on my bike for the last month or so, now I'm doing 10-15 miles a day to give cause it feels great and helps you sleep at night.

I bet if you had started cycling at 16 you would have stayed clear of heroin. Stay with it, you won't regret it.

Its in the film Trainspotting, which is about heroin addicts, its a great film you should watch it.

I know that Lou Reed was a heroin addict but can someone explain to me why this song is associated with heroin/other opiates?

I've tried suboxone about 2-3 years ago. The doctors gave it me and I wasn't ready to come off Heroin then, and I wasn't in withdrawal enough, so after the intense precipitated withdrawal that the suboxone gave me for around 2-3 days, then after that I felt depressed and after 7 days I Just went back on the Heroin.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, rain on your parade, but alcohol is a drug. I'm a recovering addict and this is important. Thinking of alcohol as deprecate has caused a great many addicts to relapse

Did you know that Methadone can cause dramatic weight gain along with chronic water retention & carb cravings? Great that you're doing something about it while your still young. Hope you keep it up.
