Artrain USA - The Future

Artrain USA, America's Hometown Museum, is looking to the future with a set a custom designed, expandable tractor trailers!

Switch designed these concepts. Here are three double-expandable trailers already in place. Watch as they transform.
The sides fold down and an inner wall bumps out on both sides of the trailers, hence the term double expandable. There is an atrium that goes up and stairs that attach. The atrium is a great place for Artrain USA's community programming. Inside the trailers, the climate conditions, lighting and security are very carefully monitored and strictly controlled. Environmental factors like as humidity, temperature have to be managed very precisely for the protection of these original works of art, and not just in show mode as you see here, but also in road mode. Vibration mitigation is a consideration also.
All the display casework is custom and will be designed with custom mounts.
These are also air ride trailers, which dampen the vibration. This concept design features three trailers, so that provides 3000 square feet of space to be used as galleries, artists' studio, gift shop and community space. And, then back out to the atrium. This transition from rails to roads is going to allow Artrain USA to triple its reach enabling it to bring the "gift of art" to people in any community in the United States.
