Stephen Hough plays his own Étude de Concert from his Piano Album. Notwithstanding Hough's playing is absolutely superb, somehow I'd desire more delicacy in this piece.

  • I don't think Hough is ever lacking in delicacy. In fact his delicacy might be his only weakness... Personally I wish he'd produce a bit more thunder now and then. Hardly possible in this piece though, which seems mostly on high notes. Technically, he hardly yields to Hamelin.

  • @cbreemer He's an ever delicate performer, but there are few things here which are a bit harsh to my ears. But it's totally subjective. By the way, if you wanna hear him thundering, check out his Brahms Concerto No. 1, he was quite furious there (especially in the 3rd movement)!

The one with Fisher ? Yes he looks pretty grim there. I find it quite an uninspired performance, with more slips I'd expect from him, and still not the burnished sonority I'd wish to hear. I think he is more at ease in lighter and more scintillating music. Still, I'd give my right arm to be able to play like that, hehe :)

  • haha sweet piece! Pretty Jazzy!
