This is driving me NUTS!

My 2K8 Gary Fisher Piranha is making an extremely obnoxious noise, and I cant figure it out! The LBS is stumped too!

Check seatpost and seat I installed a new BB and that didnt do it My noise doesnt happen unless i am sitting if it is the bottom bracket should'nt it make noise constant especially if you stand on it well i am looking into my seat and post. Trek 1.5 owner

my bike recently started making that sound.. and its driving me!! nuts!.. i went on a 5hr ride today i had to hear it the whooole way.. talk about embarressing.. it only makes it when im actually sat on the seat.. like as soon as the weight is put back on..

It's either the bearings in one or both of your pedals. But it's most probably your bottom bracket. This is a sealed unit that you connect your pedals too. You will need to buy a replacement unit that has the same dimensions as your current one. Bike manufacturers usually fit new bikes with cheap and nasty BBs that will last 12 months if you are lucky. I'd recommend a shimano UN54.

People, when you get that kind of noise, just tighten your cranks/bottom bracket.

The same thing happened to my bike when i got it. The next day I took it on trails and the noise was gone.

i have this problem on my bike.. mostly when im putting stress on it by going up hills.. does something need tightening ??

could it be BB problem ? try grease it ?
