Hammock bivy by ajillis - raintest update

Webbing...
This is a "common" problem with most hammocks out there. It is also the #1 mod done by most that hang. Usually described as lightening their suspension system, it doubles as ending the water problems from webbing. Wish this would be fixed at the production end from all hammock vendors to start with. They know the problem, so why not eliminate it. Most end users do not want to re-string webbing. They just want to hang and stay dry!

Ajilis, Sorry for the bad reviews, I try to be honest. So, have
production put the pocket on the inside as it should have been near that toggle. Remove this water absorbing webbing, replaced with two part webbing. Just a small loop of less absorbing webbing near the ends with loop for carabiner and tree huggers with less absorbing type webbing on other end with loops for carabiner. Double seal the bow area, at which point I would give this a 8/10 review! Make it all woodland camo and replace bugnet with finer black no seeum netting and it's a 10/10 survival hammock as good as, if not better than most on the market! Nice "first" attempt!
Please send me one when you fix it so I can make another honest review!

  • I wonder about the "need" for breathable fabric in alot of these newer hammocks. I guess there is two rules of thought here. Breathable: less sweaty, but colder. None breathable: More sweaty but warmer. I don't lay in a hammock in the sun during the daytime very often and not experienced the sweat(cold sleeper?) they "talk" about., so the none breathable works best come night time by not allowing the wind to put colder air on me. Pad seem to work best for "me". ymmv...

  • It seems like it might lack ventilation, does it get boiling hot in there?

  • @supercooldudeism it's actually very well ventilated. I thought the fabric being waterproof would be an issue but that has not come up. You just keep the top rolled back and everything is fine while hot out. When it gets in the 60's at night you pull the top back over you and have a pad under you. Will be fall time before I can see how condensation works out in it. After the mods this has turned out to be a pretty good little setup with rainfly.
