By tech., I meant the 5 in. guns of today placed on our warships then against WWII Japanese cruisers or BBs. Battle of Samar came to mind when our baby flat tops were attacked with only a few DDs or DEs to protect them.

Probably? Definitely. The deck guns either side had back then would be severely our ranged and out gunned. Now I don't know too much about the Navy, I'm an Army boy, But I know a little.

Just imagine how well today's tech. would fare in night action Guadalcanal early WWII or Surigao Straits against Japanese cruisers or BBs. Probably be a slaughter!
