  • To every IDIOT out there who is saying

"JKD IS THIS" or "JKD IS NOT THIS"

As Bruce Lee said "It's just a name"

Bruce Lee did not make JKD out of wing chun, boxing and and fencing, he took certain elements he liked from each of them, as well as other martial arts, and put them together to form his own style.

Take what is useful, discard what is useless.

  • OK, think People are pushing the Crap between Ted and Dan. LEAVE IT THE HELL ALONE! Ted teaches what SiJo Bruce Taught Him and Dan Teaches what SiJo Lee Taught Him! Same as Jerry teaches what SiJo Lee Taught, And Jessie teaches what SiJo Lee taught. We as JKD Students need to stop splitting hairs and rank crap. I've trained with Ted, Jerry and Dan. They All Deserve Respect and If you are a Real Student of JKD and Bruce Lee. Learn and Support, Stop Politicking!

  • @fuckwackemcees agree, but he said that JKD is not a style and he has no style and you just said he formed his own style :D

  • Lol OK guys...everyone who is saying what "JDK" is "supposed to be": you should know that Bruce Lee regretted making JDK into a martial art in the first place. The entire philosophy of "JDK" is to take what is useful and throw out what is useless in all martial arts and make a style that suits you and your unique needs. He reasoned that by even putting a name on this philosophy, he was actually going AGAINST the philosophy. So just learn as much as you can and don't disrespect any martial art.

  • "a style without style" HE said!!

  • I like this JKD series. It is simple and direct and you get a good foundation to build on.

  • @gongfubl Rick Tucci showed a leg raise in some of his Jeet kune do videos...as long as other ways to stop them

  • @fuckwackemcees , that's right, JKD is a philosophy, not a style. 'JKD is anything that scores'. It can be anything, because it has no form, it's not consistent, even ambiguous

  • @hulkout666 Also, the back leg should be kinked, or on your balls of the feet for quick bursts like sprinting. The body again, should be 45 degrees, to make your target smaller, like in fencing concepts, rear hand protect the area around your head, and the forward hand protecting the center of the body. Hope that helps. =) Again, its not complete sideways. This video doesn't explain it very well.

  • @hulkout666 This video doesn't really explain it. With the JKD stance, the body and the feet is turned at a 45 degree angle, not fully sideways. The legs are shoulder width apart, not directly behind each other. Your toes should be pointed 45 degrees left or right depending on your lead. This is expecially important for the front leg. This prevents joint strikes that actually break your knees cuz it can give while at the same time, giving you slight protection to your groin.

  • if my dominant arm is my right what stance should i use. Where do i put my legs?

  • @gongfubl FInally someone who understands. As you can see, there are tons of bullshitters here on youtube. But you can't bullshit biomechanics and physics. People can say all the shit they want, but it's a fact that the more you turn your body, the harder it will be to use your rear hand and leg and the fewer options you have in a fight. If you spar against guys doing the same thing, I guess you might do okay. But you should always spar people from different styles to really see what works.
