Felix Ungar has just broken up with his wife. Despondant, he goes to kill himself but is saved by his friend Oscar Madison. With nowhere else to go, Felix is urged by Oscar to move in with him, at least for a while. The only problem is that Felix is neat, tidy, and neurotic, whereas Oscar is slovenly and casual

  • @all ~ question: I like the music into this bar where Felix goes in.(gogo-table dance??) Does anyone knows the title of the piece they are playing or band namewhich is playing?

Beside of that this is one of my absolute must favs. Saw it first time when I was 11 years old. Still great! Greetz from Germany! thx for reply!

  • @rhill54 Thanks, I'm going to watch it with my girlfriend tomorrow. We liked The Odd Couple so much. it was hillarious. About the sequel - the authours completely missed the point. It was so stupid.

  • @Eliskoopa You are right about that sequel. To see more good Lemmon and Matthau check out The Fortune Cookie (1966 written and directed by Milly Wilder). Not as achingly hilarious as the Odd Couple but still very good.

  • This was one of the funniest films I have ever seen. I had a smile on my face all the way through. But the sequel... Oh my god, the sequel is the worst pile of turd ever.

  • @Philacav Thank-you. Your certainly a fountain of knowledge. Thinking about it. I sure wish i could have afforded Oscars apartment in 1968 or even now. He really must have been the NYC's highest paid sports writer!

  • @Buffalobigboy69 Child's restaurants were all out of business by the 1970's; they were cafeteria format restaurants and had been around since the early 20th century. The Metropole is there, but is called "Lace", a strip club. The Metropole name survived into the early 90's. It had been a famous jazz club; in Odd Couple, it was in the midst of transitioning to strip club. Apartment was on Riverside Drive; the highway you see is NY Route 9W, or "West Side Highway".

  • @Philacav Thanks for that information. That was very interesting. I wonder if Child's or the Metropole are still around? I also wonder if there apartment was on Central Park West or not? The mind reels. :) I remember when there both on the roof and the highway {i forget the name} can be seen below.

  • Is Oscar playing or not?

  • @XxExtremeRockStarXx they do make decaf you know
