This is how the news describes the event...we were there July 29, 2011

Crowds streamed through downtown Manhattan Beach on Thursday as the sun hung high overhead.

Teenagers, surfboards and beach towels in hand, marched down Manhattan Beach Boulevard toward the water's edge, passing bustling cafes on their way. Traffic moved with ease as drivers slowly directed their cars though the city's main arteries. Tourists posed for photos at the base of the pier.

The relative quiet won't last long. This weekend, tens of thousands of athletes and revelers are expected to descend upon the seaside community for beach volleyball's grandest spectacle: The Charlie Saikley 6-Man Volleyball tournament.
