http://psd2cssonline.com - This tutorial shows you how to make a custom Drupal Theme from your Photoshop or GIMP design in seconds. Here we show you how to make custom regions (besides just left column, content, right column, etc.) so that you can make any and as many regions as you want.

NOTE!!! - since this video was created, the NEW CORRECT place to install a theme for Drupal is in the {drupal_root}/sites/all/themes folder, NOT the {drupal_root}/themes folder anymore (as is shown in the video). psd2css Online already builds the CORRECT folder structure however so this shouldn't be a problem for you. Please do NOT install your psd2css Online generated theme in the {drupal_root}/themes folder - it won't work!

  • Hi Shaun,

Cool concept - but just out of curiosity, why PSD instead of Illustrator? A vector graphics package just seems so much more logical for creating a theme than does a raster graphics package...

    Just curious.

    - Forrest

  • @forrestkholleman with Illustrator you can also save to PSD format. Most designers through our research use PSD

  • Does this tool still work for the current version of drupal?

people have posted on your forums and you tell them to send in their PSD to support. I sent in my PSD 14 days ago, and have yet to see a response.

  • @JOHNVDEEZY sorry that you have been having issues with Drupal. What is the current issue with the Drupal not loading

  • @ulle89dk @ashty175 We are still currently working on Drupal 7, so there might be some problems there; but doublecheck your Drupal names -- no capitalizations in layer naming and rasterize all Fx layers. :) Hope this helps!

  • @ashty175 Got the same problem..

  • Hi shaun,

i wonder if you can help me, i have created my own theme through photoshop with all the correct layer naming conventions (i Think). i have then uploaded to your site and then extracted the file. then i uploaded it through filezilla. but when i apply the them through drupal it just shows my theme like you would see it in photoshop, none of my primary links/blocks/menu have shown up.

do you know why this is happening? and how i can fix it.

    cheers ash

  • @athleten07 try using the Firefox plug-in Firebug and install the Drupal module this is a very good tool for finding out where everything is in your stylesheets

  • @athleten07 please check out our Frame feature that will provide expanding content without scroll bars. You will also want to make sure to use bodybg as well as when the frames expand you are going to want to have the background extend and expand with it

  • @urfreeway : +1

will be nice to know the content window dimension and the left column dimension please.

  • @BRedTheShizznit - dont feel alone ive been battling the same problem. Soon as i set up the theme to run in drupal all it shows is the theme like a single image. cant edit modules or see any text no matter where i go inside of drupal. I then have to delete the psd2css theme and my drupal is back to normal with no theme installed. I would love to get the premium version but this is the one thing holding me back. I dont want to pay for this service if it wont work for me.
