This is a test piece I created to experiment with tones from the Axe II. I'm really impressed with how easy it was to deal in an articulate 8-string tone - the notes remain clear and crisp even down on a low F#.
The amp used was the FAS Modern, with a Tube Screamer in front of it to tighten it up and add a little bit of beef. There is absolutely no post processing on the guitar tracks, what you're hearing is the Axe II patch as is. There is a little compression added to the master track just for loudness though.
I will continue to refine the sound but I don't think this is bad for one afternoons work!
The guitar is my trusty Hufschmid 8-string. I'm using 10-46 strings with a .060 on the B-string and a .090 on the F# (yeah, really that thick!).
I have a website that's in the works, will be online soon (I promise!). Check it out if you want to contact me or get info on lessons: http://www.dougcartwright.com
Thanks to Leigh Costanza for the great drum track, filming duties and general help with making this clip! V
fuckin Axe FX man, they always sound amazing. If i was rich i'd totally buy one, but seeing as i would only be using it for home recording, it's not really worth it for me to drop so much on it. Maybe one day!
