  • The HP Mini 5101 is a netbook.

  • About the max RAM-question:

Microsoft has decided that to be allowed to sell a computer with XPH or W7S it has to be a netbook by their definition, which means max 1GB RAM (and 160GB/250GB HD). So HP just state this, although it's works just fine with 2GB (HP's own 2GB editions have other Windows versions).

  • @soilheart Yup, I've read you're right about the MS's restriction on the RAM, though it's the 1st time I've heard them imposing a restriction on HDD capacity as well. Anything more, have to be an after-market distro- or user manual upgrade.

  • Hey how much ram do you have

  • @Zcru12 this current unit is running on 2GB of RAM :-)

  • do you know how to upgrade windows 7 starter to professional

  • @ralliart12 How Did You Get That Boot Logo? My Boot Logo Is Just A Loading Bar With Nothing On It And By The Way, My Operating System Is Windows 7 Home Premium.

  • So the hp mini isn't just a windows 7 startup its also installed or is that a seperate accessory added ?

  • @SGStudios13

I don't tink the experience will be pleasant. In fact, even running Windows 7 Pro on 1GB RAM, on an Atom machine, may prove to be unpleasant.

  • Hi Schaltza, the successor to this model, the 5102, still has NO Ion graphics chip and they simply refresh the processor to the newer N450 & give the option of having a full touchscreen & load up Win7 Starter Ed. by default as well.
