@NotBadConrad No way! I also happen to an anal linguist. A very accomplished one.

<3 Linguistics! I actually passed the exam for Sigs ops linguistics for the Australian Army in 2005! I learnt how to speak Serbian through osmosis. Never had one lesson! It shows tho lol.
I recently got a comment saying that I wasn't gay acting like the stereotype and that the GLBT community should be proud of me. Although I know it was an awkward compliment - it was interesting!

OMG on the George A Romero comment. I live in PA about 2 miles from the DotD mall. In addition to the zombie walks, e have a zombie museum. And now, the Santa elves appear to be impaled by candy canes.
They are so out of control with this stuff!
1. i lourve the hair!! 2. I knew you are a linguist, but are you a cunning linguist?

Honestly, I'm really picky about things so I would say I'm more of an anal linguist.
:P

You can look at Dawn of the Dead as a kind of attack on consumerism too. I don't think it's an accident that it takes place in a mall. :-)
But yeah, to your larger point, the whole "being gay" thing does tend to bubble up tot he surface a lot. But I think that's due to the fact that sexuality is a powerful undercurrent that directs us in many different ways--whom we seek out for sex, whom we tend to seek out as friends, etc. And then you have the minority status on top of that.

Exactly! I'm not ashamed of being gay, but sometimes I feel like I focus on that or talk about it a lot. I just don't want to be that guy who always bring conversations back to the one thing everybody's tired of hearing about.
I'm getting better at it though! It's just too new and exciting still, even after a year of being out.
