Oh my god, I died a little I was laughing so hard. National response time for Law Enforcement(I am a cop) is 18 minutes average. If you rely on us arriving within a minute to save you then you deserve to be robbed/raped/murdered. We do our best but we can't teleport to you. Take a basic self defense class, Buy a firearm, or at least a tazer or mace.

@hoodedreaper87 In this case, the plantiff's statutory maximum is $2000.

But to answer your question:

a) they get to appear on TV and 15 minutes of fame

b) they get paid from a fund less any loss from the verdict.

In this case, within the first minute, you know the plantiff has got no chance in hell of winning and is sueing out of anger. He's got no actual evidence! By going on People's Court, he is guarenteed a payday of between $2-5K and has saved himself some lawyer's fees.

I don't understand why people that believe they're owed $15,000 bother coming to the people's court where they can only get $5,000. Being on TV isn't worth the $10,000 to me.

I didnt think that guy would ever win, the landlord is NOT responsible and the tenat told him someone would be coming by, so hearing a thump would not mean much.

I dont believe he had $2000 cash in his dresser and goes on a trip- he'd have taken the money for the trip.

Guy shoulda had renters insurance:)

@atomus He sounds french, but he could be from a French speaking African country. His last name sounds French too, but he does seem to have a different accent than people from France, which is why I think he could possibly be from a French speaking African or other country.
