Islamic Terrorist Attack foiled in London on June 29, 2007

A terror plot involving two car bombs has been foiled in London on June 29, 2007. This attempted terror attack comes a week before the anniversary of the 7/7 attacks, and just days after the Salman Rushdie knighthood controversy and the stepping down of Tony Blair as British Prime Minister.

British police also have a picture of the man who drove a bomb-rigged silver Mercedes outside a London nightclub, and officers said he bore a "close resemblence" to a man arrested in connection with another bomb plot but was released for "lack of evidence". Terrorist attacks against nightclubs have been commonplace in Israel. More recently, nightclubs in Bali have also been targeted by Islamic extremists, culminating in the attack in 2002 which killed 202 people.
