This DVD-ROM is called Tristan Music Appreciation for Young Scholars, visit www.TristanArts.com or e-mail sales@TristanArts.com for more info. In addition to performances by outstanding musicians, it features recordings from Virgin Classics and EMI, Harmonia Mundi, Naxos, and David and Ginger Hildebrand of the Colonial Music Institute. Geared for upper elementary to early high school students, the DVD-ROM is a complete presentation of the orchestral instruments. The program also contains an in-depth history of the instruments beginning in the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque eras to the Classical, Romantic, and Early 20th Century periods of music. This DVD-ROM program is a fully interactive multimedia experience: video performances of individual instruments by outstanding musicians, excerpts from top ensembles of famous works, beautiful illustrations of instruments and musical eras, extensive musical vocabulary, and a fully annotated text. It even has a fun game to test your knowledge of the instruments and composers of each major musical era.
Students can enjoy this program to extend their knowledge of music and the instruments; teachers can use it in the classroom or in labs; the entire family can enjoy this program--and become scholars of classical music--or at least avid listeners! Famous composers highlighted include Monteverdi, Bach, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Berlioz, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Debussy, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, and many others! All the major melodic instruments are represented as well: violin, viola, cello, doublebass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, (French) horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba. The percussion instruments include timpani, snare drum, tam tam, and bass drum.
