Arresting prostitutes is nothing new for law enforcement.
But pregnant prostitutes?
The Camden County Sheriff's Department arrested three pregnant women accused of advertising escort services on the Internet.
"I can't say that we've ever dealt with prostitution before, to speak of," Sheriff John Page told KMBC's Dan Weinbaum.
The sheriff said the women were advertising on craigslist.com, so deputies set up a sting.
"We invited four of them down, and of the four, three were pregnant," Page said.
With the help of the Lake Ozark Police Department, arrests were made.
Mugshots taken at the booking show the women's baby bump.
Page said the women were featuring their pregnancy in their online ad.
"That was the issue they were pushing -- they had a few weeks or months left before they weren't pregnant anymore," Page said. "I can't say I had heard of it before."
One of the women was three months pregnant, another was six months and the third was eight months pregnant.
Three of the women were released pending formal charges. One was jailed on outstanding warrants.
