  • I think the bottom line on these is that they're *somewhat* worth it if style and WOW factor is very important to you. They sound GREAT, but more like a set of $300 desktop speakers (which is still saying a lot).

If you're going to spend $1,000 on a set of desktop speakers and sound quality is a priority, I'd recommend the following: Genelec 8020B,

Dynaudio BM 5A or Focal Professional CMS 40s

This will all sound 2x's as good as the Harmons

  • @psustud5327 you hit it right on the head, this product is about sound and style and not intentded to compete with powered pro monitors, it's a statement product, personally if I were choosing powered monitors I would shoot for the JBL LSR modes myself.

  • Do you think it is worth to buy it?

  • @dawnnadir every penny. They are stunning to look at and everone that comes over looks at them and has to hear them. it's like some sort of ritual now when anyone comes over.

  • I used from 2003-2006 the soundsticks and isub... and then in 2006, I transitioned to my music across the network from the ipod HiFI speaker system, positioned across the room. I enjoyed the bass more from the Ipod HiFi, however, I liked the depth of the sound from the sound sticks. I imagine you've played with the ipod HiFi before... from soundsticks to these GLA, what sort of differences do you hear? is there honestly a 600 sound difference? and if you've used the hifi, differences?

  • @ebc0118 huge differences in clarity, definition, and dynamics. the Hifi is more like listeing to a cheap car stereo, plays loud but too much is missing across the range to call it hifi from an audio perspective.

  • I living in the music

  • My Satellites sound better than this shit :P and It game with a 19" sub. Cost me about 70$ for the whole set

  • @psustud5327 cymbals*

  • @psustud5327 im not an audphile so will i noticed the 5000hz difference and the 900$ price difference? LOL

  • @randomrazr NOOOOOO, lol. These are MUCH better... but maybe not worth the difference in price.

Sounds sticks are missing nearly 5,000Hz at the top end (treble) so they have no sizzle or sparkle. Symbols won't sound as crisp on Soundsticks as they will on these or any speaker missing a separate tweeter, but instead utilizing full range drivers (this doesn't apply to EVERY speaker using full range drivers out there mind you).

  • @sabbathcrazy You can pay $1000 on a 2 speaker set and EASILY have them be worth it. These just aren't really worth it to me, but it all depends on who you are. If style is just as important as sound then maybe they are. Sort of like Bang & Olufson buyers. Speakers cost up to $2100 per unit for desktop sets (Amphion) but these are ALL about sound, not much to their style, lol. These Harmon's are worth about $300 in my opinion, but their expensive acrylic enclosures are what you pay for.
