I don't know how someone can think there is a humane way to kill something....the animals in meat packing plants are there to die....who cares how it dies? It's dead! I mean I may be a little insensitive, but honestly it's there to die, did you expect them to read it a story and let it have a phone cal to its family before they off it?

@CapTrainT No.I'd just expect them to kill it. But then they do all of this extra stuff, like give cows horomones to make them bigger which breaks their legs, and give them corn instead of grass because it's more affordable, but makes the cows sick...just things like that y'know? They torture. Then kill. Which makes a hell of a lot more of a difference before it's actually on your plate. You should care how it dies. Because the last thing it eats and digests, you're eating too.

Chickens are scalded alive in meat plants. Pigs have their throats slit. Cows aren't required to be treated with antibiotics. Turkeys gain weight so rapidly from hormones that their legs actually break from the weight. Watch PETA's Meet Your Meat (I"m not a PETA fan but the video is educational)

You are right. It is hypocritical.. Laying hens get their beaks chopped off.. I own and raise chickens and their beak is a VERY sensitive and a very crucial part of their body. Plus those wretches keep them in teeny little cages. My chickens lay well and they aren't kept in teeny little cages, their beaks aren't chopped off, they get to dustbathe, sunbathe, and even raise chickies of their own. But they ones in industry are tortured until they die. :(
