When I think about politics in the USA, I am reminded of the following program by James Leigh Hunt.

Too many people think that they are doing enough for their fellow beings by praying to the lord and putting $100 in the collection on Sunday.

Stop blaming the politicians, you put them there.

You prefer flag waving, god quoting hypocrites that only care about their own comfort.

If you love your country you are happy to pay your taxes - if you love yourself you only have to shout out your patriotism and wave a bigger flag than those around you.

Countries are judged not by the wealth of the richest but how the poorest are treated. If this were not so, Saudi Arabia would be the best country in the world.

There is no freedom while there is disease and suffering that can be alleviated.

There is no freedom where there is ignorance.

There is no freedom where there is destitution.

There is no freedom where there is hunger.

Let us create a society that looks after all the members, the fortunate and the unfortunate, regardless of their race, faith or sexual orientation.

Let health, education, housing and freedom from want be human rights and not the privilege of the fortunate.

Let the system that supplies these needs be orientated solely for the benefit of the users and not for the benefit of the suppliers.
