I'm astonished by the ease and clarity of the legato line. Beautiful voice for sure but his focus and detail are like nothing I've ever heard from another baritone. Granted it is a recording... but damn, this clip is a gem.

I can't tell you how much I adore this clip! I hadn't encountered Zancanaro before, but I am just amazed! Sensitive singing, great technique and good acting! I am finding it hard to listen to Hvorostovsky sing this after hearing Zancanaro sing it. Thank you so much for posting!! Now I can't stop watching this clip! Is it possible to upload more from this Il Trovatore movie? I've watched the clips you have uploaded so far and would love to see more!

Era giovane,ed era proprio al meglio delle sue possibilita'. Gran bella emissione, acuti facili e timbrati,proprio bravo. E non ci andava nemmeno bene.....

Again, thanks for uploading this--I have been watching this fantastic clip over and over again since discovering Zancanaro recently. Who is singing Ferrando?

My first experience listening to Mr Zancanaro was a Covent Garden performance of Andrea Chenier starring Placido Domingo. Mr Zancanaro sang Gerard and his 'Nemico Della Patria' got the loudest and longest applause in the performance. At the end of Act III he had a staredown with Fouquier Tinville and he was staring THROUGH the other character. Breathtaking performance.

O que mais me impressiona... não sei dizer, aliás, tudo superlativo conforme bem enumera Antares 291, quando não há o que não seja perfeito, belo e impressionante.

Só nos resta viajar embalados por momento tão lírico!
