@waterloofreak And the guy on the engine, is my Uncle! Another fantastic guy!
-
@waterloofreak Bill is a personal friend of mine! He's a great guy!

@phtmexplo Oops wrong formula, here is the right one :
HP = torque x rpm : 5252
-
HP = torque x5252
so high torque and low HP (like this video) is good for continous "work"
but if u have low torque but high HP its good also, its better for car topspeed for example.

the anouncer bill mccreery was my steam school instructer
-
@12valvepower1 ...has nothing to do with steam.
-
@Zsword92 Actually its torque alone. Horsepower is just math.
-
Yes, you can still buy new ones too.
-
It's actually both.
They both accelerate the car. The torque more at low rpm's and the power more at high rpm's.
Learn to fire one of these engines then come back here and you'll understand why the comment was funny. 100 pounds is low for that engine. The Prony brake operator was chastising the fireman for being at such a low pressure.

SWEET VID! Now this just goes to show how much power these old machines had. And for it to break the belt at the end. Priceless.
