Video of my HO Model Railroad, Sweethome Alabama, set to my son, Steve Grant's cover of Hotel California by Eagles. All the instruments were played by my son Steve and it's a real 'Team Grant' effort - even one of the cats (Pushkin) got in on the act.

  • This layout is amazing! I've been in the hobby for 35 years, and couldn't tell it was a model until the kitty popped his head in!! ;-p

Your son is very talented as well!! Awesome cover!!

  • @pacbelt Thanks for the kind words. Must get the next one uploaded

  • Awesome video, and I loved the music! You son did a great job with it. As a musician myself, I would be very proud to have accomplished what he did.

  • @dadnyfur Thanks mate, much appreciated. Steve's done a great job, hence the video. Watch out for the next one, which will be one of his own compositions

  • awesome talent! does ur son produce and record the music? im a professional drummer- just want to know- nice to see someone with a musical talent as well as model railroading!

  • @Southerntreatment Steve played all the instruments on this one and used computer software to record each instrument - mainly the keyboard and guitar parts. The different parts were then mixed together, again using computer software.

  • Hey John ... Great layout ! Where can we find a trackplan of it ??? THANKS ( XL - modeler from Europe )

  • Great video,Great layout, Great song!

  • US Railroads arent my thing, but this layout is stunning - as is the quality of the video work. The music - well what can I say - awesome and extremely well played!

  • Wow sometimes it looks like a model train. Great work in model finishes and color. Your lighting is perfect as is the camera work. I really like how the camera zooms sometimes or pans across the shot like someone is shooting trackside with a stiff tripod.

Jon, you've raised the bar so high that most of us will simply choose to walk under it.
