This is Sugar, my sugar glider. This is a video of her when she was sick. After several vet visits, I found out she was suffering from a lack of calcium in her diet (she was not eating all the foods that I put in the cage for her, but I was unaware because there are 3 gliders in one cage). This causes HLP (hind leg paralysis). She got better after 4 or 5 days, but it took so long to find a vet that knew about sugar gliders, that she suffered permanent damage to her hind legs and joints. She still gets around ok, but she's a little handicapped so she can't jump anymore. My other glider Gizmo also started shaking like this a couple days later, but I was able to get her the calcium and medicine in time to prevent permanent loss of mobility. Gizmo is back to normal.
If your local vet is unfamiliar with sugar gliders, I would recommend having them call Dr. Ness. This is his animal hospital's website http://nessexotic.com/. The gliders need a calcium supplement immediately, and probably need the drug Calcitriol. Ask your vet about the drug though, I'm not a vet. I'm giving this information so that others will know what questions to ask their vet when the vet is unfamiliar with gliders. I wish someone had told me it was HLP sooner, and that they needed calcium and calcitriol. I went to 3 vets who didn't know anything and finally the 4th vet had raised gliders of her own and she knew what to do. But it took 6 days to find a vet who knew what was wrong and by that time, Sparky was too far gone to recover and Sugar was permantly disabled. RIP Sparky.

ITS THE CAGE! PLEASE REMOVE ALL SUGAR GLIDERS FROM THESE CAGES WITH THE BLAC PVC COATING! maybe this is a cold but if you watch my video you can clearly see it is a nuerological toxin affecting my baby.

even with all the research... you can't watch your glider every moment they are awake. especially because they are, you know, nocturnal.
thank you so much for posting this video... one of my males (i have 2) was exhibiting these symptoms but I caught it after 2 days thankfully. and thanks to your video i am confident he will be just fine after a few days of calcium supplementation. i was really upset but thankfully we caught it really quickly and my vet is knowledgable on gliders.

This is why people must research before getting a sugar glider as a pet.
