Amazing parallels.
Author, do an expanded talk on youtube--7 mins is really watchable--and give more of the detail. I'd thought of the similarities between the current conflict and the Crusades generally, but was missing most of these specifics.

I was amazed at how many parallels there are between the war in Iraq and the Fourth Crusade--not to mention classic elements of Greek Tragedy. Which just goes to show archetypes are alive and well and even "W" is a predictable "fool" of 'classics' proportion. Too bad for us he's in charge!
