getting a horse to pack for awhile before using them for a riding horse is a great idea. we use solid panniers going through the trees this teaches the horse to give space for your legs. loved the video. thanks for posting it.

How's the training going? Looks like you need to oil the leather, get it nice and soft.
I did a 7 weeks ride on the Bicentennial National Trail in Australia with just my two horses. It was without a doubt the hardest but most rewarding thing I've ever done. follow your dreams and good luck!

Wow! 7 weeks. I will have to look up that trail. I just got back from my first packing experience. Two friends and I went with Ivy and an Icelandic pony as pack animals into the Umpqua National Forest. We just spent one night out away from our trailers, because there wasn't any grass to speak of. The original plan went up in smoke because of huge wildfires in the Marbles. I did take video with my little camera, and hope to be able to post some of it. We learned lots!
