You can google "Target Dupnik" to have even more fun. Cross hairs have been put on the Sheriff's district to demonstrate that we all have as much free speech as we want without any consequences.

@rupertslander He has NO right to use his Office of Public Trust to do so. Just as if you are in the Armed Services you can be charged under UCMJ if you make a political statement in uniform. If he wants to come out and give his PERSONAL OPINION then he can not affix SHERIFF to it and he must NOT make it seem as though it is the opinion of the Office or Department.

So let's get this strait---Loughner had been going around acting like an utterly deranged violent head case for years, numerous people had made numerous complaints about him, he was thrown out of college precisely because the people around him were deeply afraid of him, he had already threatened to kill someone and somehow talk shows are to blame? Instead of political grand standing, why didn't the Commissar Dupnik do his job?

The paukenschlag against free speech and the 1st Amendment continue on. How disgusting it is that a law enforcement official would use this tragic event to suggest our freedoms should be curtailed. But anyone with any sense know that there are many like this doofus who want to shut everyone in the nation up.
It is unconstitutional to pass laws to curtail our 1st Amendment rights based solely on how someone MAY react when exercising them.

Hmmm, that sheriff sounds awfully suspicious. He already KNEW that Loughner was unstable and out on the loose. So, instead of monitoring the guy, he LET Loughner roam freely AND attend Gifford's event with the KNOWLEDGE that he might cause harm. Sounds like he WANTED something like this to happen so that he could get on his political soapbox. Shameless.

Dupnik has his First Amendment rights, but that doesn't make it appropriate for him to use the podium of a law enforcement briefing as a stump to give us his two cents on whatever he wants. This is a serious abuse of the privileges of his office.
Perhaps he's just been at the job too long. I hope the sheriff has a very happy birthday tomorrow, and seeing as he'll be 74 I hope he then quietly retires so he can go onto Youtube and say whatever he wants in the capacity of a private citizen.
