Did Bob Hope fight in the war? I don't suppose Churchill noticed the comments of this mummer; this gutless court jester slyly snatching crusts from the tables of the great. Would a lion notice a cockroach?
Am I alone in feeling rather sick of these private secretaries whining about their lot. They were far younger and fitter than Churchill who constantly carried this immense burden. Also they were pampered compared to millions who suffered and fought in the war. Whining little mummy's boys!
Yeh, the RAF mde Ham-burgers out of the civilian population... the pay back for the bones and schrapnel i used to pick up and play with in the ruins of London, in 1948-9.
Bob Hope's comment is fascinating--this Hollywood creature who made a fortune in real estate understood the reality of human relations. He describes Churchill as doing Mrs. Roosevelt's laundry. Haha! There is no sentiment of gallant ally about it. By 1942, we had surrendered our assets to the Americans and was living off its loans. We had ceased to be an independent power. Whether we'll ever regain it remains to be seen.

I am surprised that Bob Hope was poking fun of Churchill. I guess that even then politics was a topic of poking fun of people.
