This video is a demonstration of the linux cli tool "file" - File can identify file types by its content, and not by its filename extension.

You might know this. You downloaded some files from "some" server or p2p and you expect a .zip file is a zip archive, right? a .avi is a video file... and so on. Well sometimes some this is not the case. Any while gnome filemanager and other tools still think the files might be damaged or corrupted, they are often just fake filenames. See this tech tip how to analyze and identify such strange corrupted files and see if they are not just "fake names" but valid files of other types.
