Vanity Fair is narrated by an angel in heaven. She died in a car accident and her 2 daughters were sent to an orphanage. She looks down on them and watches their life journey.

It is the 1920s and the narrators daughters, named Veronica and Grace, are in a run down orphanage. Veronica is healthy while Grace was diagnosed with Degos Disease, which is fatal.

Veronica was adopted by a rich family while Grace was left behind. This broke their hearts, as they would never be reunited. Grace was expected to die within the next few years.

As Veronica adjusted to her new life, she began to feel pressured to be the perfect child that her parents wanted. These upper-class family gave everything to her and expected everything.

Veronica spies on her mother and sees her getting ready for the day. Her mother is crying and gets obsessed with her appearance. As she watches, her mother punches the mirror as she calls herself ugly and Veronica flees.

Imprinting, which is an animalistic learning behavior has changed Veronicas psyche forever. She is now under the impression that looks are everything and you must be the best.

Vanity has consumed her

Veronica hit fame as a Jazz club singer and a model. This only worsened her vanity as to looks and the spotlight was her whole life. At night she would spend hours in the mirror critiquing her looks or fixing them. It was an obsession to say the least.

Veronica got a fan letter. Its from her sister saying how she is not expected to live in the next 3 weeks and needs so say a final goodbye to her long lost sister. Veronica is shocked and rushes over to see her sister.

When she saw Grace, Veronica was struck with emotion of Sadness and joy. Strangely, she was angry of how much prettier she was than herself. She immediately ran to the mirror and reapplied her makeup to try to outdo her sister. When she was done she consoled her sister and in the end her sister wanted to perform with her. Out of spite Veronica refuses and rips out her sisters hair. Grace was scared to death of what Veronica would do next to her as her Degos disease killed her. Veronica left and looked into her vanity crying and going crazy.

Veronica starts punching the mirror, unknowingly mimicking her adoptive mother. She gets so crazy that the mirror warps. Punished for her vanity she gets sucked into the many dimensions of the mirrors, with herself getting distorted for all eternity. She will never be satisfied or happy and be ridiculed into every dimension she is thrown into.

SYMBOL:

The mirrors represent different dimensions . The main character experiences several different life styles throughout her life, which foretells different worlds. In the end her downfall was her obsession. She was staring into her fate her whole life and let it get the best of her. The different layers of mirrors represents her punishment of never getting back to reality and warping her looks and mind psyche throughout eternity. Her selfish ways and how she lost touch with her innocence got the best of her as she refuses to be there for her only home base, her long lost sister.

Why the targeted audience will love this: People love when stuck-up, complainers get what they deserve. *The ironical twist is that the protagonist turns into the antagonist.*
