Thank you very much for this, saved me quite a bit of money (cable by the foot + crimpers) compared to buying long premade ones.

actually that last part is wrong. it also matters because of the the way the wires twist in the cable. if you put opposing wires in a pair it reduces distance and speed

Why do you tell us the order of the wires? As long as they match on both ends it doesn't matter what color order they are in...

THe order of the wires is important for consistency. When you make a crossover, it helps to remember which wires to cross, and it avoids confusion when you have to make more than ten of these (which is a frequent occurance for network administrators and other PC technicians.) HOWEVER, you are correct, the color of the wire does not effect it's conductability.

Again, sorry I take so long to respond... Yes, it will work with the Xbox, as the Xbox is actually a computer.
