Neil Nathan - Do Ya

Neil Nathan's folky version of ELO and The Move's "Do Ya" is featured on the Californication Season 2 Soundtrack alongside Sheryl Crow, Nick Cave, and Warren Zevon. Jeff Lynne had to approve Neil's version and loved it. Directed by Brian Goodwin, the video is an alluring meditation on the search for true love. "Do Ya" is the lead single off Nathan's covers EP, Songsmiths. Produced by long time steel collaborator Mike 'Slo-Mo' Brenner (Slo-Mo, Marah, Jason Molina), it features unique, low-fi arrangements to the Small Faces "All or Nothing," and Beethoven's "Fur Elise," among others.

Is it just me or does Californication have the best cover songs ever on its soundtrack? Sheryl Crow doing Behind Blue Eyes, Shaw Blades cover of California Dreamin', Damhnait Doyle's I Want You To Want Me. Along with this great version of Do Ya, it's got to be one of the best soundtracks for a television show or movie ever! Not to mention My Morning Jacket's cover of Rocket Man. SOOO GOOD ALWAYS!!!!

You're totally right. I usually don't like covers from legendary tracks (for example, tracks from the rolling stones or warren zevon), but they really try to find the very best covers at californication.
