At the Callers Choice contradance in Dec 2009, Smuggler's Cargo was the featured band. This video attempts to show off the band, as well as some of the calling and dancing at this relatively new folk dance series in Saint Louis at the Monday Club. The Callers Choice Dance is the first Saturday of every month.
Band: Dan Higgins (banjo), Roger Netherton (fiddle), Alice Sanvito (guitar), and Dale Wilson (bass).
Callers (just those caught in this video): Martha Edwards, David Keller, and Karen Jackson

  • Great video from all those vantage points! Have you somehow learned to fly?

  • Completing the information from the previous commentor (who correctly identified the dances): The contra tunes, in order, are "Julianne Johnson," "Arkansas Traveler," "Fly Around My Pretty Little Miss," and "Chinquapin." At the end, of course, is "Tennessee Waltz."

  • (The first dance sequence is likely a variant of Als Safeway Produce by Robert Cromarite; the second is Dip and Dive by Tom Hinds; the third HCD Dancefest Reel by Christine Hale; and the fourth Delphiniums and Daisies" by Tanya Rotenberg.)
