Whys the poor thing in a cage? They shouldnt be pets ours has an eye missing so she cant go back into the wild, but she has free roam of the house garage neighborhood yard etc... She doesnt go far usually never even leaves garage.

Actually, raccoons can be quite vicious. Watch Billy the Exterminator. (He saves the raccoons and releases them to the wild, no worries. o.o) and it's so common for them to carry rabies and other diseases. I do agree with you though, I wish they weren't so hated. :c If people learned to leave them alone and properly put away their garbage in a way the 'coons couldn't get at them, there wouldn't be a raccoon problem.

I have raccoon feeders on my property and I feed them Ole Roy hard dog food. Plus they get cornbread and treats such as mellows. I've been feeding them for 7 years. None of have rabies. None are mean. I hand them food and they take it ever so gentle. They don't appear to wonder far from their home hear. They usually have 3 babies each at birth time. Once the babies are old enough, they show them the feeders and soon introduce them to me.

@GrackleMomma yeah,i mean,whats the dif. between a raccoon and a cat or dog?its just an animal like anything else.besides,a dog or cat can get the same illnesses if they don't have there shots.

@marenonline he was probably rehabing the raccoon and nursing it until it was old enough to be released :] if its released at a really young age its likely it will die.

Contrary to the sickening dribble, coonies are fabulous, My family and I have lived with and loved raccoons for longer than most of the people commenting here have been alive. They live very well in the company of humans who understand and respect them. The pen this one is in is fine, the coonie looks healthy and is trying to be sqee cute so someone will take him out and cuddle him..
