Alaska has more resources then almost all of the rest of America. They have it all. It is huge. It is bigger then most countries. Resources are what makes a country and if Alaska were to tap into it America would move to Alaska because thats were the jobs would be.
You assume the need for the US Government. The only thing Alaska would lose is protection from the US Military.

Alaska could never stand on its own. It's about as feasible as other states suggesting secession.

Alaska would never join the Russian Federation. They really don't even need to belong to the United States. They have all the resources and they are very independant. The only thing holding back Alaska is it's ties to The United States.
