Lorene Palmer Seward ("Lorrie") was a honored guest of Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve during August's Mare Faire. She told a small gathering of what it was like growing up at the Naval Ammunition Depot (NAD) which is now a national historic place. This is a ten minute shortened version. Lorrie shares more stories of life of those historic times in an audio tour and DVDs offered at The Preserve every second Saturday during Second Saturday Access Days. "NAD" stands for Naval Ammunition Depot which began in 1854 at Mare Island by Admiral Farragut. www.mareislandpreserve.org
