This year's coming presidential elections will serve as a true test of Liberia's commitment to peace, as well as the United Nations' ability to build a sustained peace and prevent future atrocities. Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, 72, is running for a second term in the second election since Liberia's bloody 14-year civil war ended.

  • GOD bless Ellen

  • u should she fake

  • where was the usa

  • Don't compare South Africa with Liberia. Yes, Mandela could serve one term because relatively his country was already industrialized and didn't have the peculiar problem of Liberia. Liberia is amongst the poorest countries in the world and was devastated by civil war. It needs the stability that Sirleaf provides to continue on with the development. And lastly, Sirleaf maybe 72 but she is stronger than many 60 year olds. She still swims and used to play tennis a few years ago.

  • What does age have to do with her ability to govern? Alot of world leaders are and have been much older than Ellen..... India's current President Pratibha Patil is 77 and Abdul Kalam before her was 76, Ronald Reagan was 78 and Jacq Chirac of France was 75. Ellen and all of those listed above are and were very capable Presidents, so please stop using that age argument.

  • what a big crook. ur old, nothing against old ppl but leave da presidency alone n b seen as da female mendala power greed.

  • Yes, Liberia has come a long was if you look at where we were some 10 years ago.

Everything was destroyed and it will take the kind of determination and work ethic of Madam Sirleaf and her administration. Things are changing and one day we will look back and proud of where we have come, God bless LIB.
