HP POD stands for Performance Optimized Datacenter and its the whole datacenter-in-a-box with power and cooling infrastructure built it. It's actually not a server. Lots of things can go in a POD --servers, storage, networkinging --basically anything that fits in a 19" standard rack (which includes both HP and non-HP gear).

HP PODs are basically a datacenter-in-a-box. They can be used for a whole host of things --from capacity expansion for businesses that need more servers or storage, to disaster recovery and even as temporary data center space while a new data center is being built or for a limited term project like the creation of animation or special effects for a movie.
