Position the reel wherever you feel most comfortable with. I have tried the reel up and down and prefer the reel higher up on the butt. I have been beach casting for years and still cannot cast with the reel low. Keep at it mate and tight lines!

For a pendulem, start slow.the only speed comes right at the end.If you feel the sinker is too light, get sth heavier. For century,150gm-175gm is good

your gonna need a bigger boat?

I got a 14' Century CME and just couldnt get the timing right! kind of gave up on pendulum. I can cast my 12' FS so hard it creaks but cant slowmyself down with the bigger rod.

Why don´t you use the reel at the butt of the rod ?

I havent yet got the hang of it down the butt.
I now have a century CME with sliding reel seat and do practice down the butt. It feels a bit alien to me controling the real with my weak hand. I am aware its more powerful that way but i'm still a pendulum noob :-)
