Recorded with a 1978 Rickenbacker 4001, D'Addario XL 45-100 strings, Gallien-Krueger 1001-RBII and an Avatar 410 cab. :) My videos would not be complete without a couple of dumb mistakes too... enjoy!

By the way, I got two instant messages in the middle of the quiet section... sorry about that! LOL

  • @g8rb8sfender Rickenbacker 4001's have a cap on the bridge pickup that makes it a little more treblier. 4001s also have a different truss rod system that isnt meant to take round wound strings. I would suggest buying a newer 4003 if you like the sound of the 4001 but want to use round wounds trouble free. The newer ones have a push/pull that lets you put the cap back into the circut if you so desire. I love my mapleglo 2010 rickenbacker 4003 thats for sure!

  • @Kyler2013

No, Entwistle used a pick just as much as fingers.

  • @Rosschaoscomic actually ANY good bass player uses both. U cant get the same sound from fingers as u can from a pick. I primarily use my fingers but some songs sound WAY better with a pick. This song is one.

  • I can't believe someone asked "is that a rickenbacker" hmm... look outside... is that the sky? One of my dream basses.... before I keel over I'll have one. Curious if there's a big difference in tone between the 4001 and the 4003?

  • @chapapwnszombies I don't think Entwistle used picks a whole lot. But the Percentage that DON'T: Cliff Burton, Steve Harris, Shavo Odadjian, Les Claypool, any 'slap' artist, and the one that no picker can top, John Myung. Enough said.

  • @Rosschaoscomic ... jason newstead, duff mckagan, paul mcartney, john entwistle, sting, john paul jones, roger waters, tom araya, lemmy, matt freeman and dave ellefeson use picks. im pretty sure you just made that percentage up dude. great bass players should be able to use both picks and fingers

  • You're using a pic?!?!?! DUUDE! fingers all the way, 80% of all great bass players use their fingers, it's tradition. Ironically I got huge blister on my index and middle fingers from playing this song.

  • So jealous.. Ive been wanting a rick forever! Loved the vid btw, actually helped me improve on the song a little, I thought I sounded a little off.

  • Dude. spot on. The Chorus sounds awesome. Feel free to do a lesson on the Chorus (!)

  • @FSPB123 ricks necks are rosewood with a laquer finish, and you cant buy a rick neck their not bolt on ricks have neck through body construction
