1) "Wash., DC: President Roosevelt summons the newshawks of the capital to announce that he will permit his name to be placed in nomination if the sovereign will of the American people demand that he run."
2) Success In Normandy - "As the Allied drive gains momentum in Normandy some very revealing sidelights on the ferocious activity there, are seen. We watch huge flailing machines, mine beaters, as they thresh lengths of chain into roadways suspected of containing Nazi anti-personnel mines. Huge streams of Nazi prisoners are marched to the rear, led by their pompous and stiff Generals. In the air, Allied aircraft display their prowess as they pin-point bomb Nazi road junctions, shoot up locomotives, and explode Nazi aircraft on the ground. The infantry is shown advancing step by step through piles of broken enemy arms and liberation of France proceeds."

(partial newsreel)
FDR was a great man, a genuine democrat, a winner for himself and for America. The USA wound up in 1945 controlling 90% of the worlds assets. In many ways, it has been downhill for the US ever since, until now most of our assets are owned by foreigners. Which is fine! The rest of the world had that relationship with is for 60 years. Now that it is over, I hope Americans can bear, as they had to bear, being the poor relations with as much grace as they did.

As soon as Russia was accepted into the war as an ally, the principle had been conceded that if the allies won, the territory between the USSR and Germany WOULD be under Russian influence. The Red Army liberated it from the Germans and would be the occupier. This wasn't Roosevelt's doing; this was Hitler's doing. Indeed, several Central European states were Hitler's allies in attacking Russia
No doubt you would want the US to push on to Moscow. That would have been a Truman decision, not FDRs.

Roosevelt was a cool-headed, pragmatic politician. He never gave anything to anyone, and fought to make every deal favorable to the USA and the USA alone. Stalin did the same for his side
In their last meeting and until the end of his life, Roosevelt wanted something FROM Stalin. He wanted the USSR to Join the invasion of Japan. Roosevelt did not know that the atomic bomb would work. His was told a Japanese invasion would cost a million American lives. He wanted Russian help, so he had to give.

snekable..you are the one you needs to study history.
All agreement where done in Yalta and Teharen two years before WW2 ended and it was your ball-less president Roosevelt who fucked Central Europe big time. Shame on him forever.

Ok, maybe you should try studying history. Roosevelt died before the war ended in Germany before he could discuss who got what. Also, Roosevelt gave the Russians their victory via 10 billion dollars of supplys propping that dying country up, when Roosevelt could do nothing else. America was always an isolationist country and very much did not want to get involved until P.H. and by then, we had to go into Africa to prevent the nazi's from getting oil.

Looser Roosevelt does not make me angry at all. He was just one of many bad US presidents. His lack of "balls" with dealings with Stalin created Cold War which proooved to be very costly.
Ignorant idiots like you make me angry.

Roosvelt maybe was "a great" for you.. but for Poles and other in Central Europe Roosvelt was just a looser who handed half of Europe to Stalin.
jacurek 5 years ago
Good to know Roosevelt can still make you angry. Only shows how great he was, as even 60 years on idiots like you still feel fear in their hearts for him.
